Who's
Your Daddy, Sorry....Mummy:
Solid as a warrior of the Caledonii tribe,
the man's hair is reddish brown flecked with grey, framing high cheekbones,
a long nose, full lips and a ginger beard. When he lived three thousand
years ago, he stood six feet tall, and was buried wearing a red twill tunic
and tartan leggings. He looks like a Bronze Age European. In fact, he's
every inch a Celt. Even his DNA says so. But this is no early Celt from
central Scotland. This is the mummified corpse of Cherchen Man, unearthed
from the scorched sands of the Taklamakan Desert in the far-flung region of
Xinjiang in western China, and now housed in a new museum in the provincial
capital of Urumqi. In the language spoken by the local Uighur people in
Xinjiang, "Taklamakan" means: "You come in and never come out."....Alba

Fergus
The Pict:
Ladies & Gentleman, I bring you this news
with heavy heart & a weary mind, but still it should be noted
that my friend & yours, Fergus The Pict, has ceased to be,
that's right, like a Monty Python sketch, he has ceased to
exist, no, he isn't resting & he certainly isn't stunned [apart
from the fact that the education chiefs don't think that Fergus
is a great idea] neither is he a Norwegian Blue, he isn't even
pining for the fjords!!! No in this politically correct world
that we now live in, education chiefs would rather we learned
about every other bloody culture in the world rather than our
own. You look at these photo's and tell me that these children
are not entranced by history being brought alive in their
classrooms, you be the judge, look at the photo's, I think
they're magical, look at the children, tell me I'm wrong....Alba

Silvina
Luna:
Silvina was a
contestant in the Argentinian version of Big Brother where she
became rather famous, she was born in the city of Rosario,
Silvina Luna wanted to study drama and get a job to help her
family. After finishing school at the age of 17, she moved to
Buenos Aires and worked as secretary and a model. She lived in
Miami for a year with a friend. Blah Blah Blah. I'm sure you'll
agree that she knows how to wear an Argentinean football shirt....Alba

Bruce Coronation, Click
Here For The Trailer:
Well what a day, It's not often I
enjoy a day out without a swally, but by Christ I enjoyed
this one. In case you didn't know I've just appeared in a
production of "The Coronation Of Robert The Bruce" at the
Dunfermline Abbey, what a great place to perform, plus it got
filmed for posterity which makes me a "Luvvy" I'm already
wondering what my motivation will be for my next role, hopefully
we'll have a few clips on the site soon. The DVD will hopefully
be handed out free to schools to help them with their Scottish
history lessons, Jock & the gang, namely Joe the Bish, Stevie
the piper & the lovely Fiona deserve a huge pat on the
back for all their hard work in getting this project of the
ground. Well done guys & thanks for letting me be a part of it,
enjoy the pics....Alba Gu Brath
Flanders
2007:
New
The fallen Scots soldiers of
the First World War have been honoured with a Celtic cross at a
former battlefield. The memorial was unveiled at Passchendaele
in Flanders. The area was the site of the Third Battle of Ypres,
also known as the Battle of Passchendaele, where as many as
500,000 troops from both sides were killed or wounded, our
roving reporter Mikey Maes from Belgium was on the scene for us......Alba Gu Brath
Well
Of The 7 Heads:
Drive along the shores of Loch
Oich & you will find yourself amid
some of the most spectacular Highland scenery imaginable.
While you're standing there your eye will be drawn to a
large monument taking you back to an era when this part of the
west Highlands was a brutal, lawless place and whose very name
evokes blood and gore, the Well of the
Seven Heads. The monument
is topped by a sculpture of a hand
holding a dagger and seven severed heads,
a stark reminder of one of the most gruesome episodes in
Scottish clan history. What is striking about the story of
the Well of the Heads is the overwhelming sense of vengeance and
power masquerading as justice which typified the clan system and
over which the authorities in Scotland had no control.....Alba Gu Bráth

School
Footie:
Browsing through the TAMB one day, as I do
from time to time, I came across this rather splendid trip down memory
lane, it's basically the concise rules & regulations of "School
Playground Association Football", it had me chuckling, hope you like it
too, special mention to "A Light In The North" from the TAMB for this,
nice one....Alba Gu Brath
Tartan
Army, A Day In The Life Of:
A lot of people have asked us why do you
support Scotland??? they're crap, well in this section we shall try &
explain to the uninitiated, so here goes. Supporting Scotland is about being
proud of who you are & where you've come from, it's about camaraderie, being
with like minded people, it's about breaking down religious barriers that
blight this wonderful country of ours, but mostly it's about going out &
getting pished, enjoy the photos...Alba Gu Brath.
Viva
La Volley:
Fancy a wee game of
football just in time for the World Cup? Then look no further, this wee game
isn't as easy as it sounds, you have to score on the volley, you get
different points depending on position, difficulty etc. plus of course after
doing all that you still have to beat the goal keeper, see if you can beat
my score of 16,706, good luck...Alba Gu Brath.
Braveheart,
The Movie An Assessment:
In 1995 Mel Gibson unleashed a movie that
would inspire a surge in Scottish nationalism that was
unprecedented in modern times, critics would point out that it
was factually incorrect but no one could argue that nearly all
the events contained therein happened at sometime in our
history, by the time a crazy Irishman joins Wallace and
asks, "If I risk my neck for you, will I get a chance to kill
Englishmen?" you are totally drawn into the movie & you can't
help but want into the action. Braveheart has a primal, visceral
power -- as when Wallace, in the aftermath of a battle, stands
over the carnage he's wrought and screams in victory, nostrils
flaring -- that strikes straight to the heart of any hot-blooded
Celt, or indeed anyone who values freedom and human
dignity....Alba Gu Brathth

It would seem that winter is
beginning to settle in, dark nights, cold miserable weather & nothing on the
telly!! So I thought, what can I do to cheer myself & everyone else up. Well
everyone loves Volleyball, right. Especially women's beach volley ball,
right. Well this is my wee contribution to cheer us up on these dark cold
lonely winter nights, hope you enjoy, I'll have some more next month if
you're good...Alba Gu Brath
