Bannockburn Commemoration 23/6/07 |
|
It was a miserable day for a march but God smiled on us and it stayed dry throughout the proceedings. The march left from the 1314 pub, we had to march onto the Battlefield through the rear entrance owing to The National Trust Of Scotland's pitiful petulance. There was a short service which was performed at the monument by the Knights Templar followed by a rousing speech from big David Ross, he told me he hadn't prepared anything and was just going to wing it, what a great speech. We all felt our Scottish blood being stirred up as we stood on the very spot King Robert himself stood on that famous day, the fact that it was actually on the day of the battle itself just added to the atmosphere.
Then it was onto the Tartan Arms pub where another great night ensued. The gig started with Ted Christopher, followed by Gaberlunzie. While talking to someone I was attacked from the back by a flying hairy missile that had hurled itself onto my back, that's when I realised that Jamesie Johnstone was in the house. The band all seemed in great spirits and were ready to gie it laldy!!! They went on to play a couple of stunning sets and the new stuff sounded great. There were some Albannach virgins in our crowd but they went home raving about what they'd just seen. I remember that feeling well.Brilliant to see the guys live again and to catch up with all there adventures, Aya love your new tats bud hope you don't mind me sharing. Thanks to Ted, Gaberlunzie, and Albannach for making this anniversary such a great one. Special mention also to Big Alistair MacPherson who organises this great event, well done Sir!!!
