Italy Home 17/11/07 Euro 2008

It's not often in the last few years that I've left Hampden with that kind of feeling of disappointment in my gut and an ache in my heart of what might have been. So close yet again, but 24 points from a group that included Ukraine & both World Cup finalists Italy and France is a massive achievement for Scotland which I feel nothing but pride for my beloved team. Down, but not out, battered and bruised and licking our wounds but we'll be back!! This group of players have been outstanding for us and I wont hear a word against them.

Well done to Alex and the boys, you did your nation proud. Our wee day once again started off in Strathies bar as seems to be the norm these days! I arrived late but some of the boys got along early enough to see Ted and Albannach give the fans a great start to the day. I managed to get a wee blether with a lot of folk today, it's getting to the stage I know more folk here than I don't!! Anyway it's always a pleasure to be in the company of such wonderful patriots, you all know who you are!

After the game we found ourselves a wee place to relax and enjoy the night, what we didn't know was through the back there was a dance floor!!!! That was it, much merriment ensued and we danced the night away to all the classics. Our Dj looked like a 50 year old Limahl but he played some great music and was up for a laugh. Now we await the draw for the World Cup, here's hoping the draw is a bit kinder to us this time......Alba Gu Brath
