MAYFIELD GALA DAY 2009
My good friend Jock asked me if I fancied becoming King Robert the Bruce's highland bodyguard Big Seoras for the day at the Mayfield Gala Day, how can you refuse a Royal command such as that!!

Mayfield is near Dalkeith and Jock's been doing this gala and parade for a few years now and I was surprised at how well it was attended, the streets were lined by hundreds of people all waving and cheering as the many floats and performers walked by. The weather held firm for most of the day but even the rain didn't dampen anyone's spirits.

The King was asked onto the main stage to perform some knighthoods on some of the school pupils who had performed so well during the last year at school, not only did they get their awards from their schools they got to meet the king!!

We then went walkabouts through the crowds increasing our army of knights and lady's to service the King and Queen, it's always fun to see the kids faces once they've been given their title by Royal appointment and handed their certificates which they always seem to be really pleased to get, yes I've got my certificate as well!!

All in all a great wee family fun day was had by all and the buffet laid on by the organisers for the staff and performers of the Gala was delicious, if my tummy's happy then I'm happy, and I was very happy, thanks to everyone for joining in the fun.
